1. Who Uses This App

Astute ISMC is intended exclusively for:

• Teachers of Ibn Sina Medical College
• Students of Ibn Sina Medical College
• Guardians of enrolled students

Access requires institution-issued credentials. The App is not directed at children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information without guardian consent, we will delete that information promptly.

Teachers input the following data on behalf of the institution:

• Student attendance records — Present, Absent, Late, Leave status per session
• Mark entries — CQ and MCQ scores per student per subject
• Exam attendance — Student presence in examinations
• Digital content — Uploaded course materials

This data is entered by authorized teachers, transmitted to the institution's server, and belongs to Ibn Sina Medical College.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely to:

• Authenticate your identity via OTP
• Display your profile information within the App
• Enable teachers to record and manage student attendance and marks
• Enable students and guardians to view fees, results, and notices
• Send SMS notifications to guardians of absent or late students (only when a teacher explicitly enables this feature)
• Remember your language preference

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to academic management at ISMC.

4. SMS Notifications

The App provides an optional feature that triggers SMS messages to the registered mobile number of a student's guardian when a student is marked Absent or Late. This feature:

• Is manually activated by the teacher for each attendance session
• Uses the institution's SMS gateway — the App does not send SMS directly
• Is governed by ISMC's communication policy

The App also uses SMS autofill during sign-in to automatically read the one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone. The App reads only the OTP message and does not store or transmit SMS content.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share data only in the following circumstances:

• With Ibn Sina Medical College — as the data controller for all academic records
• With service providers — our backend server (api2.astutebd.com) processes API requests; this server is operated by BanglaFire Solution Ltd
• Legal obligation — if required by applicable law, court order, or government authority

6. Data Storage and Security

• All data is transmitted over HTTPS to secured servers hosted at api2.astutebd.com
• Authentication tokens are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences
• We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data
• We retain academic data as long as required by ISMC's institutional policies

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to institutional record-keeping obligations)

8. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or social login providers. The only external network connection is to api2.astutebd.com (BanglaFire Solution Ltd's API server).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the Last Updated date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
